Dr Mike Bromley

I have had a longstanding interest in antifungal drug resistance and factors that drive pathogenicity in Aspergillus fumigatus. Most recently our work has moved to understand the regulatory mechanisms governing resistance and we have uncovered a role for the CCAAT binding complex (CBC), and the transcription factors SrbA and HapX in azole resistance. My group has pioneered high throughput functional genomics strategies in filamentous fungi and we have shown for the first time that competitive fitness profiling can be used to rapidly uncover pathogenicity determinants in A. fumigatus. My group has recently been funded by the Wellcome trust to generate a genome wide null mutant library in A. fumigatus.
