I have designed and funded studies on myelodysplastic syndromes, invasive aspergillosis, and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. Current activities in the field of infection are: - clinical studies to improve the diagnosis of invasive fungal disease in high-risk haematology patients - clinical guidelines reducing use of prophylactic antimicrobials and promoting diagnostics - electronic tools for antimicrobial stewardship - the annual Fungal Update meeting, the largest clinical mycology meeting in the UK (www.mycologyconference.co.uk) - ECIL fungal guideline group and an author of the ECIL-6 update. - Member of the fungal subgroup of government committee on antimicrobial resistance, ESPAUR - management of febrile neutropenia
